Electrical Test and Tag

Electricity is an invisible, silent hazard! If you “feel” it, then it could be the last thing you will feel!

A fundamental responsibility of all employers is to ensure the safety of workers and the safety of the public. Working with electricity involves the risk of electric shock.
It is to be remembered that electricity does not have to be high voltage to be dangerous or to kill.
Fatal accidents at work have resulted from faulty equipment, which has become live or from contact with worn or damaged flexible cords, switches and the like.

OH&S Recommendations
The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Acts throughout Australia call that portable equipment/appliances, electric hand tools, extension leads, power boards and portable Residual Current Devices (PRCD) be tested in all commercial and industrial areas.
If the equipment/appliance is not safe and causes an accident, both the employer and the person who provided the equipment/appliance may be liable.

Service
As a competent technician I will do a visual inspection and a series of electrical tests as per AS/NZ3760 - 2003. When both of these tests are completed the equipment/appliance will be tagged “PASS/FAIL” in accordance with AS/NZ3760 – 2003
The test results will then be entered into a log book which should then be kept in a safe place by the client for a minimum of seven years.
